Man Accused Of Assaulting, Threatening To Kill Petaluma Woman: PD

The victim told officers her boyfriend assaulted her and was refusing to leave her home, Petaluma police said.

PETALUMA, CA — A San Francisco resident was booked into Sonoma County jail Tuesday when Petaluma police responded to a report that a guest was refusing to a leave the home of a Petaluma woman.

Officers responded at 4:30 p.m. to the 1600 block of Weaverly Drive, where they learned the unwanted guest was the woman's boyfriend, identified by police as 19-year-old Samone Hughes.

"Hughes had physically assaulted the victim multiple times and threatened to kill her during the previous days while visiting," Petaluma police Sgt. Ryan McGreevy said.

The victim was in fear of Hughes and said when she told him she'd called the police, he ran out of her residence, McGreevy said.

Shortly thereafter, officers found Hughes and detained him without further incident.

Hughes was ultimately arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and criminal threats, McGreevy said.

According to jail records, Hughes remained in custody Wednesday morning in lieu of $30,000 bail.
