California Connections Academy @ North Bay kicked off its first school year
California Connections Academy @ North Bay kicked off its first school year today, providing a new public school option for students in the North Bay that offers a flexible, individualized approach to education. This innovative, tuition-free online school serves students in grades K-12 who reside in Colusa, Glenn, Lake, Mendocino, Napa, Sonoma and Yolo counties.
Many types of students can benefit from the Connections Academy online program, including rural students, student athletes and musicians, as well as those who learn at a slower or faster pace than their peers. Students at California Connections Academy have access to a robust variety of core subjects as well as gifted and advanced placement course offerings. In addition to California Connections Academy’s high-quality curriculum that is aligned to state standards, the school offers electives and extracurricular options such as Career Technical Education (CTE) classes, Juilliard eLearning online music classes, and a range of clubs and activities.
“Throughout the last few months, we’ve met many families who are equally as passionate as we are about innovative education opportunities and excited about Connections Academy coming to the area,” said Leslie Dombek, site administrator at California Connections Academy @ North Bay. “We look forward to welcoming our first class of students in the North Bay and helping each student reach his or her full potential.”
In addition to diverse course offerings, California Connections Academy’s customized learning approach tailors instruction to each student’s skill level and needs. Students and teachers work together to develop a personalized learning plan and adjust it as needed throughout the course of the year. California-credentialed teachers deliver Connections Academy’s high-quality and innovative curriculum through LiveLesson® sessions—online synchronous classroom sessions— and work with students one-on-one to answer questions and provide any additional instruction or support to help the student succeed. The highly accountable online program engages a student’s parent or another adult as his or her Learning Coach, who works to monitor academic progress in the home.
California Connections Academy @ North Bay joins the family of Connections Academy-supported schools in California, including California Connections Academy @ Ripon serving students in Sacramento, San Joaquin and surrounding areas, California Connections Academy @ Capistrano in Southern California, and California Connections Academy @ Central. The school offers an innovative, proven curriculum taught by California-credentialed teachers that is customized to meet the learning needs of each student.
