Petaluma Car Burglar Caught After Chase

The burglars shattered the windows of two cars and took property from each, police said.

PETALUMA, CA — An Oakland man was arrested in connection with car burglaries at a Petaluma apartment complex, police said.

A burglary in progress was reported around 5 a.m. Sunday at Azure Apartments, 1400 Technology Lane. The burglars shattered the windows of two cars and took property from each, police said.

As officers responded they spotted two men who matched the burglars' description, Petaluma police Sgt. Matthew Parnow said. One of the burglars — later identified as Randall Davis, 27, of Oakland —immediately ran off and officers started chasing him.

An officer chased Davis for two blocks, then took him into custody without further incident, Parnow said.

The second burglar, however, drove off in a silver Honda Odyssey van and was not located.
