Petaluma Man, 74, Struck While Riding Bike To Work
Santa Rosa motorist is cooperating with the investigation, police said. (Breaking)

SONOMA COUNTY, CA – A 74-year-old Petaluma man suffered multiple injuries after being struck by a car this morning while riding his bicycle on Old Redwood Highway, according to police.
The cyclist, who is believed to have been riding to work at nearby offices shortly before 9:30 a.m., reportedly made a sudden left turn in front of a 2017 Hyundai Elantra also traveling east on Old Redwood Highway, just east of Redwood Way, the Petaluma Police Department said.
The man was transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with multiple injuries, including an injured hip, police said. The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, but no additional details were released on his condition.

The driver of the Elantra, a 37-year-old woman from Santa Rosa, was traveling at a safe speed and is cooperating with the investigation, police said, adding that alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
A witness confirmed the motorist's account that the bicyclist turned directly in front of her vehicle and that she did not have time to stop, the department said.
