Petaluma Man Identified In Fatal Cotati Crash

The Sonoma County Sheriff-Coroner's Office has identified a driver who died in a crash on West Sierra Avenue.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — The Sonoma County Sheriff-Coroner's Office on Tuesday identified a Petaluma man as the driver who died Friday night in a Cotati crash.

Jacob Parsons, 40, was found trapped inside his Dodge pickup truck on West Sierra Avenue near West School Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers responded at 10:22 p.m. Friday to reports of an overturned truck on West Sierra and found the Dodge off the roadway, CHP Officer David deRutte said.

"It was reported the driver was trapped in the vehicle and appeared seriously injured," deRutte said. "Preliminary investigation indicates the Dodge was traveling westbound on West Sierra Avenue. For reasons still under investigation, the Dodge drove off the roadway and overturned. The solo male driver was not wearing a seatbelt."

Firefighters freed Parsons from the wreckage and he was in an ambulance en route to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital when he was pronounced dead, deRutte said.
