Petaluma Man Wanted In Attempted Burglary: Police
Police said Crump reportedly tried to break into a neighbor's place Wednesday and hasn't been seen since.

PETALUMA, CA — A Petaluma man is sought by police after a neighbor accused him of trying to break into his home and officers found evidence of the attempted crime nearby, according to police. The incident involving Charles D. Crump, 23, was reported at 11:55 a.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of Wilson Street, police said.
The victim told responding officers he was inside his residence when he heard someone trying to break in, police said. The victim said he opened the door to find Crump, whom he recognized as a neighbor.
Crump was reportedly wearing all black, including a black hat and gloves, and was holding a lock pick, police said.

The victim said when he tried to call the police, Crump took off.
A lock-picking tool, a crowbar and a slim jim were found by officers near the back of the victim's residence, police officials said.

The victim said he went to Crump's residence to talk to him but Crump was not there.
Police said Crump, who remained at large Thursday night, is sought on suspicion of the attempted burglary and probation violation.
"The investigating officer is pursuing charges against suspect Crump," police officials said.
