Petaluma National Little League Will be Honored by San Francisco Giants Tonight

Team will get to walk on the field and watch batting practice.

The San Francisco Giants tonight will honor the Petaluma National Little League team, which nearly won the national title in the Little League World Series last month.

The team finished second in the United States and third in the world in the series, held in South Williamsport, Pa. Tonight at AT&T Park, the team will be treated to a field visit, attend batting practice and participate in a ceremony at home plate. The game, in which the Giants are playing the Colorado Rockies, begins at 7:15 p.m.

The Giants themselves are on the verge of clinching the National League West Division title, holding an eight-and-a-half-game lead over the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 12- and 13-year-old players on the Petaluma team beat the Little League team from Panama 12-4 on Aug. 26 to win the consolation game after losing a bid for the national championship to a team from Tennessee.
