PETALUMA, CA — Petaluma police asked residents of a neighborhood in a northeast part of town to shelter in place Tuesday night. Those who live on Cardinal Way, northeast Turtle Creek Way and Noriel Lane — near Prince Park — were advised at 9:13 p.m. to shelter in place because of police activity.

"Please avoid the area until further notice," police said. "Those residing in the area, shelter in place."

At 10:57 p.m. Tuesday, a dispatcher told Patch police were not releasing any information about the police activity or the related shelter-in-place order.
