PETALUMA, CA — An abandoned vehicle abatement program conducted by Petaluma Police earlier this week resulted in officers identifying 323 vehicles throughout the city as possibly abandoned, police said Friday.
During the operation, courtesy notices were placed the vehicles and officers are planning on following up on the vehicles that were given notices, police said.
In addition, officers issued 166 parking citations and towed 21 vehicles.
In response to ongoing issues with abandoned vehicles, the Sonoma County Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Program allows residents to contact the Petaluma Police Department to remove any old vehicles, boats, and motorhomes for free. The vehicle must be registered to the caller.
