Petaluma Police Monitor Nationwide Threats of School Violence

"If a threat occurs, we will take immediate action to protect our students and school staff."

PETALUMA, CA — The Petaluma Police Department planned to have an increased presence at schools Friday in response to threats circulating nationwide on social media platforms suggesting school violence would take on Friday, Dec. 17.

"To be clear, no Petaluma Schools has received any direct threat," Petaluma police said. "We are closely monitoring the information. If a threat occurs, we will take immediate action to protect our students and school staff."

The police department said it was working closely with Petaluma School Districts and that it takes all threats seriously and was determined to identify all suspects who make such threats.
