PETALUMA, CA — A Petaluma woman is being held on $100,000 bail following a suspected DUI crash Sunday at a Petaluma intersection, according to police. At about 7:40 p.m. Sunday, Danielle Marie Carter, 32, allegedly ran a red light at the intersection of Old Redwood Highway and N. McDowell Boulevard, causing her car to collide with another vehicle, Petaluma police Sgt. Andrew Urton said in a news release.

Officers responded to find Carter trapped inside her damaged vehicle, Urton said.

Petaluma Fire Department personnel responded and freed her from the wreckage.

Emergency personnel also treated a person who was riding in the other involved vehicle and suffered injuries in the crash. The person was taken by ambulance to Petaluma Valley Hospital for treatment and has since been released from the hospital, Urton said.

"Through both driver’s statements and witnesses it was determined that Carter failed to stop for the red light and collided with the other vehicle in the intersection," Urton said.

After a records check revealed Carter's license was suspended for a previous DUI arrest, police arrested Carter on suspicion of felony driving under the influence and causing injury, Urton said.

Carter was booked into Sonoma County Jail, where she remained Tuesday morning pending a court appearance Tuesday afternoon.
