Police Investigate Woman's Death In Petaluma
Police are seeking witnesses after a woman who found lying on a Petaluma sidewalk, died at a hospital.

PETALUMA, CA — Petaluma police are seeking witnesses after a woman who was initially found lying on a sidewalk Wednesday night died at a hospital. Officers responded at about 9:30 p.m. to the intersection of Lakeville Street and Caulfield Lane, where the woman was lying on the sidewalk, partially in the roadway, police officials said in a news release Thursday morning.
Emergency personnel with the Petaluma Fire Department were already on scene attending to the woman, who was conscious and breathing but unable to talk, police said.
The woman, who did not appear to have any visible injuries or signs of trauma, was transported to Petaluma Valley Hospital.

Her condition deteriorated at the hospital, where she died from a yet-to-be-determined medical condition, according to police.
The woman's age was not disclosed by police, and authorities with the Sonoma County Sheriff-Coroner's office were not releasing her name until they notified her next of kin.

Police said officers checked the scene and surrounding areas for evidence Wednesday night but did not find anything that appeared to be suspicious.
"The Petaluma Police Department is actively investigating this case and at this point nothing regarding this incident appears to be suspicious," police officials said. "Anyone who may have observed this incident or the female subject is encouraged to contact Officer Sutherland at 778-4372."
