Residents Displaced By Blaze That Erupted In Their Petaluma Home
Investigators continue to look for what caused the Saturday morning blaze that displaced the residents.
PETALUMA, CA — Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire that started in the garage of a Petaluma home, displacing the residents.
The fire began about 12:54 a.m. Saturday in the garage of the house on the 2100 block of Willow Drive.
The first fire unit arrived on scene within three minutes and saw smoke coming from the garage of the house, according to the Petaluma Fire Department.

The battalion chief escalated the incident response and called in backup from the Gold Ridge and Sonoma Valley fire departments, as well as the Rancho Adobe Fire District.
Firefighters contained the fire within 20 minutes, but crews remained on scene for several hours to extinguish any hotspots.

The residents were not home at the time of the fire.
No injuries were reported.
The Petaluma Building Department and PG&E evaluated the structural and utility safety of the house.
Following their assessment, a building inspector deemed the residence unsafe and issued a “red tag,” restricting occupancy.
The Petaluma Fire Prevention Bureau continues to investigate the cause of the fire.
