Santa Rosa Man Charged with 2nd Degree Murder in Deadly DUI Crash

Pablo Salinas Jacobo is accused of drunken driving in a crash that killed his passenger.

A Santa Rosa man is now facing a second-degree murder charge stemming from a deadly DUI crash last week in which a woman was killed, Sonoma County District Attorney Jill Ravitch announced Friday.

Pablo Salinas Jacobo, 33, is also facing charges of gross vehicular manslaughter while under the influence, felony driving under the influence causing bodily injury and driving on a suspended license, according to prosecutors.

The charges stem from a Sunday multi-vehicle crash in which Jacobo’s vehicle was traveling on Los Amigos Road when it crossed over the double yellow centerlines and struck two other vehicles.

A passenger in one of the vehicles, identified as Lori Lynne Ryan was killed in the crash after suffering serious head injuries, prosecutors said.

Jacobo admitted to drinking prior to driving and registered a high blood-alcohol content, prosecutors said.

He has two prior misdemeanor convictions for DUI in 2007 and 2012, and his license is currently suspended, prosecutors said.

He is currently on probation for the 2012 DUI conviction.

“Ultimately, too many people still see the worst case scenario to driving impaired as a misdemeanor conviction, fine and a few days in jail,” Ravitch said in a statement released Friday. “Tragically, however, this is a realistic reminder of the true worst case scenario: a catastrophic ending that effects so many lives and is simply and completely avoidable.”

Jacobo remains in jail on no bail and is scheduled for a court appearance on Tuesday.
