Sonoma Co. Deputies Involved In Chase, Shooting Wednesday Night
The suspect was struck by gunfire and transported to hospital.

Law enforcement officials this morning are investigating a Wednesday night deputy-involved shooting near Sebastopol.
Deputies with the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office responded at 11:46 p.m. to a report of a vehicle driving south in the northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 101 near Windsor.
At 11:51 p.m., a deputy spotted the vehicle driving recklessly and attempted to stop it on Old Redwood Highway near Starr Road in Windsor, but the vehicle sped away at a high rate of speed on U.S. Highway 101, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies pursued the vehicle as it exited the highway and stopped in the parking lot of 2661 Old Gravenstein Highway.
Deputies gave verbal commands to driver to surrender, but the driver accelerated the vehicle in reverse, striking three deputies and a patrol vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office. The deputies responded by firing several shots into the vehicle.

The driver was struck an undetermined number of times by the shots, deputies said.
The suspect was transported to the hospital. There was no information immediately available as to the suspect’s condition. One deputy was treated and released from the hospital, and two other deputies suffered minor injuries in the incident, deputies said.
The Santa Rosa Police Department’s Violent Crimes Investigations Unit is conducting an investigation into the incident.
