Sonoma County's Runaway Inmate Found In Homeless Camp

He was rearrested Wednesday night after ditching his jail work crew on Monday.

A minimum-security jail inmate who walked away from a work crew in Santa Rosa earlier this week has been located and arrested, Sonoma County sheriff’s officials said today.

Deputies arrested Michael Gentuso, 38, of Santa Rosa, at a homeless encampment near Rohnert Park on Wednesday night, according to the sheriff’s office.

Gentuso walked away from a work crew at about 7:45 a.m. Monday in the area of West Steele Lane and Cleveland Avenue in Santa Rosa, where he discarded his denim North County Detention Facility uniform, sheriff’s officials said.
