Suspected Cigarette Thief Captured On Video In Petaluma

Police are asking for readers' help to possibly identify him.

Petaluma police today released a surveillance photo of an unknown man who allegedly stole several packs of cigarettes Friday night from the Shell gas station on 900 Petaluma Blvd. North.

The white male reportedly entered the gas station at 7 p.m. and asked for a carton of cigarettes. The clerk put several cigarette packs on the counter, and the suspect allegedly grabbed them and ran out of the store, police said.

The clerk chased the suspect to an awaiting dark colored SUV. The suspect got into the SUV and its driver drove off, police said.

The incident was captured on video surveillance, and a photo of the suspect is being released to seek the public’s assistance in identifying the man.
