Suspicious Vehicle Followed Boy In Petaluma: Police

The car involved in the Wednesday incident was a gold, older model Toyota Corolla, officials said.

PETALUMA, CA – Police are investigating a report of a vehicle that appeared to follow a boy as he was walking Wednesday morning on McKenzie Avenue in Petaluma.

The 12-year-old was heading east on McKenzie at about 7 a.m. when a gold, older-model Toyota Corolla was driving slowly 15 to 20 feet behind him, Petaluma police Sgt. Rick Cox said.

"At one point the victim came to a complete stop, at which time the Toyota came to a stop. The victim became scared and hid behind a parked vehicle," Cox said. "The driver of the Toyota then drove out of the area."

The child estimated the car followed him for approximately one to three minutes, police said, adding that the driver did not speak to the boy, and that no driver description was provided as the Toyota had tinted windows.

"This is information only, and the Petaluma Police Department has not been able to establish that a crime had been committed," Cox said.
