Each year the Sonoma County Fair supports the local agricultural industry by awarding scholarships to high school students who are committed to pursuing agricultural studies. Both Santa Rosa Junior College and four-year college scholarships are offered.
The Sonoma County Fair opens on Friday, July 22, and the Hall of Flowers is poised to deliver yet another stunning visual show.
The theme for this year’s Hall of Flowers focuses on “Sonoma Cinema.” Amateur and professional gardeners alike will pour all of their vision and talent into the creation of spectacular display gardens based on movies filmed in Sonoma County.
The exhibitors will test their skills as they bring to life movies like “The Goonies,” “Bottle Shock” and “The Birds." In addition we will be featuring a garden based on Alfred Hitchcock’s earlier classic “Shadow of a Doubt” which featured many shots of an early 1940’s Santa Rosa. Also not to be missed, 1950’s Petaluma will be recreated complete with vintage cars for the “American Graffiti” and “Peggy Sue Got Married” gardens.
For over 20 years, Greg Duncan has been the Hall of Flowers Creative Director, and the Fair is pleased to announce that the 2016 exhibit is dedicated to this incredibly talented individual. Each season, Greg and his extended team spend four months transforming a vast, empty building into a living work of art. No other Fair in the country has a floral display that surpasses the Hall of Flowers in magnitude.
So come join us on July 21, for a preview of this spectacular exhibit before it opens to the public.
This event will sell out.
