Very Cool From Wine Country: Art Studio Recycles Wine Bottles Into Artistry
A Napa Valley business turns old wine bottles into beautiful shiny bracelets, earrings, necklaces, keychains and accessories.
There’s a small garage studio on Yount Street in Yountville where something magical happens every day. The two ladies who live there, along with their two rescue dogs, are very environmentally conscious. They have solar installed in their house, they drive a hybrid vehicle, and they recycle old wine bottles. Not only are they saving the world, one wine bottle at a time, but every day they transform those wine bottles into pieces of art in the form of beautiful jewelry.
The house on Yount Street is home to Yount Street Glass studio. The proprietors, Cindy and Kay, are as special and unique as the jewelry that they create. What started as a hobby, turning fused glass pieces into gifts, has grown into successful business venture, complete with glass saw, kilns, blow torch, power tools, and lots and lots of empty wine bottles.

The idea for recycled glass jewelry came after an unsuccessful search for a birthday gift both appropriate and appreciated by a fashionable teenage girl. With a kiln already in the garage, and living in the middle of Napa Valley, with lots of opportunities for empty wine bottles, the ladies embarked on a mission to create a better birthday gift, and Yount Street Glass was born.
Yount Street Glass jewelry creations include bracelets, earrings, necklaces, and accessories such as keychains and shawl pins. They also produce a unique line of cork bracelets appropriate for both men and women.
