10-Year-Old Boy Sexually Assaulted by Stranger in East Oakland
Crime Stoppers of Oakland is offering a reward of up to $7,500 for information leading to an arrest in the case.

Police are searching for a suspect who sexually assaulted a 10-year-old boy he met walking in East Oakland on Tuesday afternoon, police said today. The boy was walking in the 1100 block of 98th Avenue when the 40- to 50-year-old man approached and lured him nearby, police said. The man sexually assaulted the child, who then fled and told his parents what happened.
The boy described the man as Hispanic, standing 5 feet 7 inches tall with a slender build, a tan complexion, short salt-and-pepper hair and a similarly colored full beard, police said. He had an unkempt appearance and was wearing a brown leather jacket and dark pants. Police suspect he possibly loiters in the area.
Crime Stoppers of Oakland is offering a reward of up to $7,500 for information leading to an arrest in the case. Anyone with information has been asked to contact the Oakland police Youth and Family Service Division at (510) 238-3641 or a tip line at (510) 637-0298.
