UPDATE: Elderly Pair Injured in Oakland Hills Home Invasion

It happened at 2:39 in the morning. The victims were in their 70s and 80s.

OAKLAND, CA — Two of three suspects accused of breaking into a home in the Oakland hills early this morning and assaulting the elderly residents have been arrested, police said.

Officers responded at 2:39 a.m. to the home invasion in the 4600 block of Sequoyah Road, near the Sequoyah Country Club, according to police spokeswoman Officer Johnna Watson.

Two men who live there, one in his 70s and the other in his 80s, were assaulted by the suspects after they broke in. The victim in his 70s suffered moderate injuries. He was taken to a hospital and released later today.

The other victim suffered minor injuries and was treated at the home.

The three male suspects stole the victims' gold 2001 Cadillac and fled, Watson said. The car was recovered later today. Police found two of the suspects about a mile away, near the intersection of Mountain Boulevard and Sequoyah Road, at about 4 a.m. They were in a car that had just been stolen in a carjacking Monday afternoon, police said.

Investigators found property that had been stolen in the home invasion in the car.

One of the suspects remains outstanding. The arrested suspects' names have not been released.
