'Feisty' Kitten Clings To Undercarriage Of Speeding Police Cruiser

Officers at a crash kept hearing the kitten meow. The terrified kitty was delighted to be rescued.

OAKLAND, CA — CHP patrol officers responded "code-3" — red lights and siren — to a crash Sunday morning. At the scene of the accident, officers kept hearing a kitten meowing but, at first, couldn't find it.

In a social media posting, they report, "Eventually, they discovered the cat underneath their patrol car and discovered that this feisty feline had been hitching a ride since they left the office for over an hour! The poor kitten was terrified after hanging on ... and was more than willing to let the officers pick her up and give her some food and water."

A tow truck driver who responded to the crash has volunteered to adopt the kitten, if the owner isn't found. Officers believe that she's part of a feral colony.

The CHP has named her Chip. But funsters on social media have suggested Sarge, Lu (for CHP ranks sergeant and lieutenant), Cody (for code 3) and NineJuanJuan.
