A dog was killed and five tents were destroyed in an April 13 fire at another homeless camp roughly a half-mile down East 12th Street, between 22nd and 23rd avenues.

In that case, witnesses told firefighters that one of the camp's residents had been seen cooking and that may have been how the fire started.
