Youth Soccer Coach Arrested For Lewd Acts On A Child: Police

BREAKING: The alleged victim is a player he formerly coached. Police say she was 11 at the time. Police fear there could be more victims.

UNION CITY, CA — Union City Police have arrested a youth soccer coach and charged him with two felony counts involving alleged sexual misconduct with a girl who was 11-years-old at the time. Her name is not being released because of her age. The suspect, Victor Jaime Juarez, 44, allegedly confessed. He was arrested at his Union City home on Thursday.

Juarez is charged with:

  • Lewd Acts with a Minor Child
  • Annoying or Molesting a Minor Child

According to police, Juarez was "employed by a private girls’ youth soccer coach in Union City for several years, until recently moving on to Alameda as a soccer league manager. The allegations against him in this case relate to his tenure in Union City."

They report that "detectives are trying to confirm whether the case precipitating Juarez’s arrest is isolated, or if there are other victims of similar alleged acts yet unidentified. The additional inquiry considers the volume of juveniles to whom unfettered access was routine in Juarez’s respective employments as a soccer coach and league manager. Police began their investigation on May 3, when they received information about the alleged misconduct.
