The Golden State Warriors Partner with Wingstop to Renovate Basketball Court
The Golden State Warriors and Wingstop will unveil a newly renovated basketball court in West Oakland on August 31
DALLAS – On Monday, August 31, the Golden State Warriors will partner with Wingstop to unveil a newly renovated basketball court in the Town Center and Courtyards at Acorn in Oakland, California from 4:00pm-6:00pm. The event will feature a basketball camp for over 80 underserved youth from the Acorn community and a free chicken wing lunch for community members, compliments of the Wingstop on Wheels food truck.
”We are looking forward to partnering with Wingstop to provide the Acorn residents with a new basketball court and a day of fun for the families in their community,” said Chip Bowers, chief marketing officer for the Warriors. “We have renovated over 50 basketball courts in the Bay Area with the help of our corporate and community partners and know it wouldn’t be possible without the great support of partners like Wingstop.”
During the event, the Warriors Community Ambassador Adonal Foyle will be on-site to dedicate the rehabbed court and to assist with the youth basketball camp. Wingstop’s mobile event team will also be on-site, encouraging community members to participate in live social media activities in order to win branded swag. Members of the Acorn community will also be able to take advantage of photo ops throughout the event.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with the Golden State Warriors to refurbish this basketball court for the Acorn community,” said Flynn Dekker, chief marketing officer for Wingstop. “This will be the eighth stop on our U.S.-wide Flavor Tour, the purpose of which is to give back to communities across the country by partnering with organizations that impact those in need. This court gives the youth at Acorn a safe place to play, and by refurbishing this court we are ensuring that it stays around for a long time.”
The newly refurbished basketball court is located at the Town Center and Courtyard at Acorn on 10th Street in West Oakland. A dedication ceremony will begin at 4:00pm. The court refurbishment includes area resurfacing, new paint, and replacement of rims, backboards, and poles. A total of $25,000 for the court refurbishment was donated by the Warriors and Wingstop.
