Blue Door Beads is a DIY bead store offering a wide range of beads, jewelry tools, supplies, and classes. Our make-and-take, creative environment requires staff to assist customers in making personal projects and advise on repairs. Staff are responsible for restocking, creating store-made jewelry, and everyday retail tasks. Our ideal sales associate is organized, dedicated, detail-oriented, and a good multi-tasker. Proficiency in basic jewelry-making skills — including wire-wrapping and using crimping pliers properly — is required.
The sales associate will be responsible for restocking inventory, receiving new products, tagging and organizing current merchandise, generating sales, and all other aspects of providing excellent customer service in a “Make & Create” environment.
Job Qualifications:
The sales associate is expected to:
- Ensure that each customer receives outstanding & friendly service
- Assist customers in design concepts, beginning projects, and completing them on-site
- Maintain an awareness of all new products, communications, promotions, and advertisements
- Assist in processing and replenishing merchandise
- Assist in adding new customers to our point-of-sale system, and add them to our Rewards Program
- Stay current in market trends
- Be willing to make jewelry during store hours to sell to show off new techniques and materials
- Perform light housekeeping duties, including cleaning our bathroom, vacuuming/sweeping floors, and dusting displays
Wage:
$12.25 hourly wage (no commission), PLUS 20% off discount for in-store items, and 10% off discount for classes offfered
Scheduling:
15-20 hours per week (Sunday 12:30pm-5pm, Monday 12:30-6pm, Tuesday 12:30-6pm). The sales associate is also expected to fill in as needed for sick or absent staff members. INTERVIEW DATES: - Thursday, Oct. 1st, Friday Oct. 2nd, Tuesday, Oct. 6th, or Wednesday, Oct. 7th
Special Application Instructions:
Future responsibilities will include assisting in taking class registrations, either over the phone or online; assisting customers with fixing broken pieces of jewelry; performing opening & closing duties. A few other requirements for staff: dress appropriately (no low-cut shirts, offensive decals/text , or rubber flip flops); wear jewelry they have made; find street parking -- the parking lot is reserved for customers only; cell phones are not permitted in the front of the store (phones and other valuables should be kept in back office); refrain from wearing perfume, scented lotions, or strongly-scented hair products -- Blue Door Beads is a fragrance-free environment. Employee packet will be given when candidate is hired.
