1. Rifles, Nunchucks Among Weapons Seized After Traffic Stop In East Bay Enclave: PD (patch.com) — Piedmont police say a routine August traffic stop in town led them to seize an arsenal of illegally possessed weapons, including rifles, handguns, nunchucks and high-capacity magazines, from a suspect's home. Officers arrested the driver after finding hidden weapons in the engine compartment, then obtained a warrant that uncovered more firearms as part of an ongoing effort to keep local neighborhoods safe.

Thrown Into the Deep End (tphnews.com) — Piedmont's water polo program is rebuilding with a new pool, many first-time players, and a structure that splits newcomers from experienced athletes for more focused practices. 'The Grand Budapest Hotel' on Oct. 8 (piedmontexedra.com) — You can catch a free screening of Wes Anderson's "The Grand Budapest Hotel" on Thursday, Oct. 8 at 1 p.m. at the Piedmont Center for the Arts on Magnolia Avenue. Doors open at 12:45 p.m., and the Flix Fest organizers promise a relaxed setting plus post-film discussion, with another classic, "A Few Good Men," already slated for November.
