Pedestrian intersection safety at Wildwood, Winsor, Wallace, Warfield Avenues
Citizen proposal for capital improvement projects 2017
Pedestrian intersection safety at Wildwood, Winsor, Wallace, Warfield avenues
The CIP Review Committee is seeking new projects for its Capital Improvement Projects 2017 (see Piedmont Post, 2/22/2017). In January, we circulated a petition to include this complex intersection to their list. The crosswalk across lower Wildwood and Wildwood Avenues is long and takes extra time for seniors and children to cross. Trying to cross from Warfield to lower Wildwood and then to the steps leading to Ranleigh Way is a challenge to traverse because there is no crosswalk, and then there are several steps down to street level. Most drivers are polite and wait for the pedestrian to slowly cross these intersections, but some make rolling stops, and some become impatient.
The petition along with the required Citizen Proposal Form will be submitted to the City before the dead- line of March 6, 2017. Since we circulated the petition (over 60 signatures) to a very small area of lower Piedmont, we suggest that if you support this proposal, you send in your comments to Nancy Kent, Parks and Project Manager @ nkent@ci.piedmont.ca.us. Important information to address are safety, aesthetics, benefits to the city, who is impacted, etc. Thank you.
