Real Estate Executives Expect 2017 to Be Another Good Year for the Industry

Anian Tunney, Piedmont CA real estate agent broker associate, discusses recent KPMG survey on the 2017 real estate market.

According to a recent survey of 64 real estate executives around the country by the New York City based audit, tax and advisory firm KPMG, 2017 will be another year of strong growth in real estate investing.

According to the report, conditions continue to be favorable in the U.S. real estate markets, and the executives surveyed expect that the U.S. economy will be the same or better in 2017 as it was in 2016. “All signs point to the U.S. real estate market sustaining it’s momentum throughout 2017,” the report states. The report goes on to say that the uncertainties in the real estate market haven’t dampened the bullishness of the industry leaders, but the risks must be understood and managed accordingly. For example, any changes the new president makes to tax and immigration policies and laws may have an impact, but that areas such as the San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley, which have a high profile among international investors, should continue to see strong demand.

Some of these risks include the possibility of rising interest rates may make it more difficult for first-time home buying, although the executives expect to be able to find funding and have access to equity capital. The executives also expressed concern about potential data breaches and acknowledge that the industry needs to strengthen its cybersecurity infrastructure. Listed for sale is the 1912 Edwardian Estate, 117 Sheridan, Piedmont, offered at $7,250,000.
