Spring Flowers with Seniors
Students share in flower arranging with seniors at Piedmont Gardens
On Sunday, March 15, the Havens Community Service Crew returned to Piedmont Gardens to ring in spring with the seniors. Havens parent and owner of the Oakland Flower Market, Lee Chin Phmah, generously donated her expertise and an abundant supply of gorgeous flowers and ferns to make lovely floral arrangements for the retirement community residents. She also brought a long-time customer and experienced floral designer, Susan, to help the seven Havens and Wildwood students and sponsoring Wildwood teacher, Kathleen Schneider. Although a smaller turnout than expected, the intimate size of the group allowed for quality conversation, instruction, and learning that produced beautiful floral arrangements. Karen Smith, Peidmont Gardens Volunteer Coordinator said, “Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This was a great success - I think everyone had a good time - Lee Chin was very generous with the beautiful flowers and Susan was charming and helpful to the residents with tips on arrangements.
