According to an article in the San Francisco Business Times, there are dozens of private schools in the East Bay, which are not as expensive as those in San Francisco, that receive A rankings from Niche, the national rankings company. (1)

Niche’s ranking methodology includes balancing statistical rigor and practical relevance, student/parent-submitted surveys, removing statistical anomalies, and assigning weights for each factor. The overall score is calculated by assigning the weights to the school’s individual factor scores, and then assigned a new standardized score.
