Why It’s Better to Buy Your Home in 2016 Instead of Waiting until 2017

Anian Tunney, Piedmont CA real estate agent broker discusses current market conditions and how they are expected to change.

Many factors are expected to change in a year’s time that makes 2016 a much better time to buy your new home, according to various experts, according to an article in Keeping Current Matters. (1). For example, Freddie Mac, the government sponsored home loan organization, is projecting that interest rates on a 30 year fixed rate mortgage will rise from 3.42 percent today to 4.60 percent in the third quarter of 2017.

Home prices are projected by CoreLogic to go up 5.3 percent over the next 12 months. This translates into a $750,000 home going up in value by almost $40,000 to $790,000. The monthly payment will increase from approximately $3,334 to $4,050, a difference of over$700 per month.

What can $700 per month buy? A luxury car payment. More entertainment experiences. College fund savings. Over a year, that’s $8,400, which could pay for a very nice family trip, or pay off your credit cards. So if you are ready to buy a home, sooner rather than later is better.
