Community Services Project Wants Ideas, Volunteers, Donors

A day in June is set aside for sprucing up Pinole.

If you can spare a few hours, some hamburger buns, project ideas or donations, the Pinole Community Services Commission would like to hear about it. The commission is organizing the first Pinole Community Services Day for June 4, when teams of volunteers will work on cleanup and beautification projects and then gather for a barbecue lunch.

The commission is asembling groups and individuals for community cooperation in the form of work project requests, a few hours of labor and in-kind and monetary donations. The effort already has received commitments from civic and business organizations, but the commission wants to tie the loose ends.

Following a continental breakfast at 8 a.m. at Fernandez Park, volunteers will fan out to work for three hours on several assigned projects. Afterward they will gather for a free barbecue lunch in the park. Businesses, including the , will provide meals, cooked by Boy Scouts.
