Downtown Pinole Reopens Following Discovery Of Device

A US Air Force EOD team responded.

PINOLE, CA —The Pinole Police Department reports that an incident involving what it called an "explosive device" has been cleared and all roads in downtown have reopened.

Initially, police said they were investigating an "explosive device that was located in the area" of downtown. Pinole firefighters called it an "unknown device."

Tina's Cafe reports that everyone evacuated the business and it closed for the night, while nearby residents sheltered in place.

San Pablo Avenue and Oak Ridge Road to Pinole Valley Road were shut down. Also, Tennent Avenue was closed off at Collins School.

After the all clear was given, Pinole Police gave "special thanks to the Hercules Police Department, Pinole Fire Department, AMR and the United States Air Force EOD unit for all the assistance."
