Why Go: Come out to the park to enjoy this animated family movie about a young Viking who sets out to slay a dragon and learns a lesson in the process.

Why Go: Pinole Artisans Foundation will present paintings, photo art, fabric art, jewelry, sculpture, original cards, and other art pieces.

Where/When: Solano County Fairgrounds, Vallejo; Friday-Sunday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m.

Why Go: There will be a giant carnival, nightly fireworks, family fun center and nightly concerts, free with admission. Some headliners include Dokken, ConFunkShun, Air Supply and The Family Stone.

Where/When: Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, 1001 Fairgrounds Dr., Vallejo; Saturday, 4 p.m.

Why Go: Join legendary percussionist Pete Escovedo for an evening of Latin jazz and salsa.

Where/When: Marina Vista & Alhambra avenues, Martinez; Saturday, 11 a.m.

Why Go: This celebration of the Martinez beavers who were saved by the community will feature live music, unique wildlife displays, and a “paint your own tail” activity complete with a contest/fashion show at 1:30 awarding prizes for the most creative entries.
