- Why Go: Although it’s a drive, Walnut Creek’s Art & Wine Festival is one of the best in the Bay Area, with handcrafted art, ethnic foods, music, regional microbrews and wines, and a grape-stomping contest. This year there is a special expanded children’s area.
- Pricing: Free admission; wine/beer tasting glass extra
- Where/When: 1550 Shattuck Ave., Berkeley; Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
- Why Go: Watch artists battle it out in a children's medium: chalk on sidewalks. Come for the chalk art competition and stay for the chocolates. The family festival is in the heart of Berkeley’s gourmet ghetto.

- Why Go: East Bay Improv actors perform spontaneous, impulsive and hilarious comedy on the first Saturday of every month. Unleash your imagination, spontaneity, confidence. Discover how to create characters, stories and scenes on the fly. Laugh-out-loud fun!

- Where/When: Sardine Can, Vallejo; Sunday, 5 p.m.-8 p.m.
- Why Go: The party lasts all summer! Sundays are jazz nights at Vallejo’s Sardine Can. Come for a seafood dinner and enjoy the music: this Sunday features Michelle Michaels.
