Grab & Go Kids Planner: Elephants' Day, Paws for a Cause

  • Why Go: Praise the pachyderms! The Oakland Zoo presents a day dedicated to these lovable creatures, with tours of their habitats and special events celebrating elephants.
  • Pricing: Free with zoo admission; about $8-$12, ages 2 and younger free

2. 

  • Where/When: Pleasant Hill Park, 147 Gregory Ln., Pleasant Hill; Sunday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Why Go: Come out and walk to support the Humane Society. Enjoy a leisurely half-mile loop around the park, or have your friends and family sponsor you to walk a certain number of loops.  A prize will be awarded to the person who walks the farthest distance.
  • Pricing: Free

  • Why Go: Every first and third  Saturday, weather permitting, stargazers can look through telescopes, ask questions and get answers and learn how to find constellations by looking at a star-map. Dress warmly in case of chilly weather.
