Where/When: 595 Tennent Ave., Pinole; Saturday, registration begins at 7:30 a.m., race at 8:30 a.m.

Why Go: Participate in this citywide 5K to raise money for the Pinole Swim Center. All levels welcome.

Pricing: $25 to register in event; includes T-shirt

Where/When: Various East Bay Regional Parks, Saturday, 9 a.m.

Why Go: There are several swimming locations within the East Bay Regional Parks, such as lakefront beaches, chlorinated lagoons, pools and shoreline beaches.

Where/When: Oakland public libraries, including 3301 E. 12th St.; Saturday, 12:30 p.m.—2 p.m.

Why Go: These arts and crafts programs are free to children on the weekends.

Why Go: Imagine bubbles in the shapes of squares, and filled with fog! This amazing show will entertain children and parents alike.
