GREAT ESCAPE: Happy Trees
Relax, decompress from your week and awaken your inner artiste.

Each week, we tell you about one great idea to give you a much deserved break, and make your life a little easier, maybe a whole lot easier.
The benefits of art on the psyche are widely documented. Not only does art use the creative side of the brain, but it can help with cognitive tasks like problem-solving, and it can promote relaxation.
That said, when was the last time you took an art class? Jump back in to the world of art with a special weekend day class from Pinole Artisans. Local painter Lorena is offering a one-day “Bob Ross Techniques” March 6 in which students from the absolute novice to the intermediate will learn to pain scenic landscapes.

Bob Ross! Right, the guy from TV with the giant hair, soothing voice and gentle manner who teaches “happy trees.” Ross’ technique is called “wet on wet,” and allows the painter to blend colors together on canvas — not waiting for one color to dry before adding another.
