Power Outages in East Bay, Peninsula Impact More Than 7,000 Customers

Three separate power outages throughout the Bay Area today has impacted a total of more than 7,000 customers, a PG&E spokesman said. The largest outage was in Central Richmond where originally 4,988 customers were without power shortly before 1 p.m., PG&E spokesman J.D. Guidi said.

A failed transformer in the 1000 block of Chanslor Avenue caused the outage, Guidi said. Around 2:30 p.m., power was restored to all but 19 customers, he said. There was no estimated time of when power would be restored to the remaining customers, according to Guidi. Around 1 p.m., there was another power outage in East Oakland that initially impacted 1,522 customers after a palm frond made contact with power lines in the 5100 block of Foothill Boulevard, he said.

All customers received power back shortly after 1:30 p.m., Guidi said. Late this morning around 11:30 a.m., a tree branch struck overhead lines in Daly City and left 582 customers without power, he said. There were 129 customers still without power as of 2:30 p.m. and they are expected to have service back by about 4 p.m., Guidi said. The Daly City outage was in an area near The Olympic Club on Skyline Boulevard, according to Guidi.
