San Pablo City Councilwoman Resigns
Cecilia Valdez had 2 years left in her term.

SAN PABLO, CA — San Pablo City Councilwoman Cecilia Valdez has submitted her resignation two years before the end of her term, city officials said Wednesday.
Valdez, who was first elected to the City Council in 2008 and has twice served as mayor during her tenure, submitted her resignation in a letter to the City Clerk and notified Mayor Rich Kinney and the rest of the Council on Tuesday.
In the letter, Valdez wrote that she decided to resign "after careful consideration and personal reflection," but did not specify a particular reason for the resignation.

"Being a councilmember for the city of San Pablo was a great source of pride for Councilmember Valdez," Kinney said in a news release about the resignation. "She cared deeply about our San Pablo community and worked diligently during her term in office."
