Great Escape: Along the Shoreline
Each week, we'll tell you about one great idea to give you a much deserved break, and make your life a little easier, maybe a whole lot easier.

The chores of running a household and taking care of children can make anyone feel like a hamster on a wheel. Each day, the same tasks have to be performed: cooking, laundry, driving kids to school. Why not mix it up a little bit and get out of your tiny section of the world? A small change of scenery can snap you out of your routine.
Sneak away one afternoon for a visit to Point Pinole.
The Point offers a lot for nature lovers. One visit to the East Bay Regional Parks website uncovers a trail map, with several routes including a 4-mile loop that has flat, graveled surfaces. Point Pinole features shoreline, a eucalyptus grove, and a lot of wildlife like deer, hawks, owls and Monarch butterfies, among other species.

The park is a good spot for many activities, such as birdwatching, riding bicycles or horses, or taking the park's shuttle bus for a mile and a half to reach the fishing pier. There is a small fee to ride on the shuttle bus.
