The Great Escape: It's Scrap-tastic
Relax and get your mind off your problems when you create family keepsakes

Everyone needs an outlet; a distraction; a way to get out of his or her own head. Do you dream about household chores? Last night I had a dream I could not get a gooey Cheerio out of the carpet. That is not a quality dream, moms, that is nature’s way of saying: You need a hobby!
Enter scrapping. Although most wordsmiths bristle at the noun “scrapbook” becoming a verb, “to scrapbook,” many mothers derive a lot of enjoyment out of creating keepsake albums of their photographs. A baby book becomes a lot more interesting when you can gather with other moms and have fun in the process of cropping, designing, sorting and framing treasures of little Jacob or Isabella’s childhood.
If you don’t have a local group of scrappers, as they often call themselves, or are new to the hobby, the Michaels craft stores in Pleasant Hill and Pinole are hosting scrap events this weekend.

It’s called the “All Day SUPER CROP Extravaganza” and goes on from the opening of the stores to close, so 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. It costs just $5 to reserve a spot.
Best of all, no messy cleanup! Michael’s staff will take care of that.
