Two People Shot in I-80 Attack That Left Toddler Injured
The baby was in a different vehicle and is believe to have been an innocent bystander in a targeted attack.

Two people were hospitalized with gunshot wounds after a shooting on Interstate Highway 80, which also injured a toddler Monday evening in Richmond.

California Highway Patrol officers learned a female teenager and a male in his 20s were dropped off at a hospital shortly after the shooting, CHP officials said this morning. Both victims had injuries not considered life-threatening.
The shooting was first reported at 7:45 p.m. in the highway’s eastbound lanes, near Richmond Parkway. When officers arrived, they located a driver who had pulled their vehicle off the highway and into a nearby gas station. The driver said their vehicle had been struck by gunfire at least once while on the highway, according to CHP officials.

A 2-year-old inside the car was injured by broken glass and was treated at the scene.
Investigators believe the suspects were targeting the two people who were dropped off at the hospital and that the driver of the vehicle parked at the gas station was an innocent passing motorist, CHP officials said.
