What Would You Like to See at the Former Blackie's Restaurant?
Is this vacant Old Town site a gem or a doomed property?
It's been a long time since Blackie's served burgers and fried chicken across the street from Fernandez Park. The empty building, and the ones adjacent to it, are seemingly both an eyesore and a choice location for a new occupant.
The Old Town spot, at the intersection of Tennent Avenue and Park Street, seems ideally suited to enjoy and exploit the public events that take place near the park that hosts many community events. Its proximity to the Pinole Community Playhouse can't hurt, and there's a fair amount of car and foot traffic in the area.
So, what would you like to replace the former family-owned restaurant? A new restaurant? Housing? Office space? Mixed-use, multi-story? Share your ideas in the comments box below.
