What's Happening in the Arts: 'Little Shop of Horrors'
Pinole Valley High School's performance of "Little Shop of Horrors" to open Friday, March 18.
In the mood to take a step out of the ordinary for a night of plant-worthy fun? The Pinole Valley High School Drama Department is giving you the chance with its production of Little Shop of Horrors on March 18, 19, 25 and 26 at the Pinole Valley High School Cafeteria Theatre.
“This show is really going to be fantastic," said Director Keith Barlow. "The cast, crew and orchestra are extremely dedicated and talented. The show is very funny, a bit creepy and has really catchy music. I hope everyone decides that the performing arts at Pinole Valley High School are worth supporting. Take a chance and come spend an evening with us. You'll be glad that you did.”
Little Shop of Horrors centers around a young man’s quest for a better life through the help of neither a person nor a superhero, but that of a man-eating, talking, singing, hungry and bloodthirsty plant.

“I play the part of Audrey,” said Destinee Law. “I really love the role because it’s a role I’ve never played before and I get to be eaten by a hungry plant…who wouldn’t love it?”
Audrey may or may not be the only character in the show that becomes a hearty snack, but don’t take my word for it—hear it straight from the character that plays the voice of the Plant, Ariana Skallerud.

“I really enjoy the role," she said. "It's challenging because it's totally my style, but way out of my range, and it's fun to be able to play around with the part. I think the show will be a total success. We've worked so hard and I'm sure it'll be a great turn out. Come see it and feed me.”
Don’t be scared, give into the eerie temptation of the Plant … just don’t get sucked in.
Tickets are $10 for students and $15 for adults. They can be purchased on the night of the performance or from the high school cashier.
