East Bay Jazz High School All Stars Jazz Band Open for Auditions
The locally based East Bay Jazz High School All-Star Band, sponsored by the Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center (LVPAC), is having auditions for the 2016-2017 season beginning in November/December 2016.

Auditions for the High School All Stars Jazz Band will be held on October 27, 2016 from 6:00 PM to 9:15 PM at the Music Room at Amador Valley High School in Pleasanton. For more information on East Bay Jazz and the High School All Star Jazz Band, visit the website at www.eastbayjazz.org.
After a successful first year East Bay Jazz is gearing-up for season two with the next round of auditions for talented student musicians from local high schools. The band consists of 20-25 high school musicians in two groups, a big band and a combo/trio. Rehearsals for band members is once per week at Amador High School.

In addition to supplementing music programs offered in high schools East Bay Jazz provides weekly rehearsals once per week in the evening at Amador High School with fellow jazz musicians and performance opportunities at locales throughout the Bay Area. Last year, among other performances, the East Bay Jazz High School All-Star Band played many times at the Bankhead Theater, they performed at The San Jose Jazz Festival and at a conference for an international service organization. For the upcoming season several gigs are booked and others are planned.
East Bay Jazz is generously funded via the Education Committee from the Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center - assisted in particular by Scott Kennison, Executive Director and Kiran Gulleria, the Education Program Manager. The mission of the LVPAC's Education Committee is to create opportunities that encourage, support and advance arts for youth in the community and in schools.
East Bay Jazz is the creation of Spencer Sussman, a local trombonist who performs, composes, and teaches individually and in schools. Sussman has a Master's degree in Jazz Studies from San Jose State University. Sussman toured with the Glenn Miller Band in New Zealand and Hawaii, he has played in a big band at the Montreux Jazz Festival and Jazz a Vienne, and more recently he played with Jamie Davis at the San Francisco Jazz Center.
