Boys lacrosse: Foothill loses to MV in Father-Son battle
Foothill falls flat after going up 2-0 early in the game
When Mikey Lambrecht put Foothill High on the board first in the Falcons' boys lacrosse game against Monte Vista on Tuesday, it was clear he came ready to play — and for good reason.
It was one of the few opportunities Lambrecht had this year to play in front of his dad, Monte Vista coach Mike Lambrecht.
The senior midfielder assisted on a Scott Wheaton goal moments later and the host Falcons looked to be on their way to a result similar to their 13-7 win against the Mustangs earlier in the year.

After Foothill took the 2-0 lead into the second quarter, everything changed.
Monte Vista scored six-straight goals in the quarter en route to a 9-4 East Bay Athletic League win.

"Monte Vista wanted it more than us," Foothill coach Bob McManus said. "They played hard and they played well."
It was the fifth time the Mustangs and Falcons have met since Lambrecht, who was an assistant coach at Foothill for seven years, took over the Monte Vista program before the 2009 season.
He said it's getting easier to deal with coaching against his son's team.
"Last year, it tore me up," coach Lambrecht said. "This year, I'm more excited for him and proud of what he's accomplished."
Dad's Mustangs now hold a 3-2 advantage in those games.
"There's a lot of trash talk around the house," the elder Lambrecht said. "Just normal, father-son stuff, but I think (the situation) has actually brought us closer together."
McManus said the Monte Vista-Foothill game is turning into a nice rivalry.
"I think Mikey handles it well," he said. "Mike is a great coach. He's played a lot of lacrosse and has a good thing going (at Monte Vista)."
Foothill cut the deficit to 6-4 late in the third quarter on a pair of goals from Wheaton and Gabe Garcia, but the Falcons were shutout in the fourth while Monte Vista added three goals.
Amazingly, there was no scoring in the north goal in the entire game.
Foothill (10-4, 6-3 EBAL) came into the game in a first-place tie with San Ramon Valley and De La Salle, but now finds itself a game-back with five to play, tied with the Mustangs (8-5, 6-3) and Amador Valley.
"We have to regroup against a very good Cal team," McManus said. "Hopefully we'll get back on track in time for De La Salle (on April 30)."
Goalie Ben Krebs made seven saves for the Falcons.
