Gas Leak Capped, Pleasanton Intersection Reopens

Police officials say the commute may be impacted due to repairs.

PLEASANTON, CA: A broken gas line in Pleasanton that closed the intersection of 1st Street and Vineyard Avenue Thursday morning has been capped and repairs are underway, police officials said. Livermore-Pleasanton Fire crews were dispatched to the area at 10:15 a.m. to investigate the gas main break, according to the Pulsepoint phone application.

A street construction crew was digging a trench for a new water main when they hit the gas line, according to PG&E officials.

Police say businesses in the area were affected by the break. Residents and drivers were asked to avoid the area for the next several hours while the line was capped. No one was evacuated and a few residents were allowed to walk back to their homes shortly after the road closure.

April is National Safe Digging Month and PG&E is reminding homeowners and business owners to call 811 two days before digging to have lines marked by a utility crew.
